More than 400 dead in earthquake-hit Nepal

KATHMANDU: Death toll is keep on rising in earthquake-hit Nepal as more than 400 people have been killed so far.

After the massive tremors of 7.9 numbers of building in the country’s capital were collapsed.

Avalanches were reported on Mount Everest, sending mountaineers running for cover.

The earthquake also effected the most tallest mountain of the world the Mount Everest as a power storm hit the mountain.

A number of climbers were stuck after the storm.

Earlier, Nepal’s Ministry of Home Affairs says more than 150 people have died in the capital, Kathmandu, following a 7.9 magnitude earthquake.

While Nepal’s interior ministry spokesman said that as many as 71 people have been killed so far of whom 43 were killed in outskirts of Bakhtpur.

The earthquake happened about 82 kilometers (51 miles) northwest of Nepal’s capital Kathmandu, where several buildings collapsed. “Everything was shifting. Doors were jammed because of the force. I almost wasn’t able to get out,” a witness told media.

Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport has been closed, according to local media. At least 150 people died in Nepal’s capital Kathmandu, the country’s Ministry of Home Affairs said.

The country’s armed forces have been called to carry out relief and rescue efforts.
