In occupied Kashmir, in order to suppress the Kashmiris’ ongoing freedom movement, the Indian government has decided to shift more illegally detained Hurriyat leaders and youth to the Indian jails, says a media report.
Jammu-based English newspaper Daily Excelsior quoting official sources in a report said that the decision came on the basis of specific intelligence inputs that stay of some of the Hurriyat leaders and activists in the jails of occupied Kashmir was not appropriate.
A senior official told the daily that it was policy decision of the Indian government to shift Hurriyat leaders and activists outside occupied Kashmir and lodge them in different Indian jails. “The process is on and shifting will take place depending on case to case,” he added.
The report said that the Indian government was of the view that nearly two dozen more Hurriyat leaders and activists were required to be moved out of the IOK jails and lodged at Tihar, Jhansi, Udaipur and Agra jails. It said that the process of shifting could take place shortly.
It is to mention here that the Indian authorities have already lodged hundreds of Kashmiri Hurriyat leaders and activists including Muhammad Yasin Malik, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Aasiya Andrabi, Masarrat Aalam Butt, Altaf Ahmed Shah, Raja Merajuddin Kalwal, Peer Saifullah, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Farooq Ahmed Dar, Ayaz Akbar, Shahid-ul-Islam, Abdul Hameed Fayaz, Maulana Mushtaq Ahmed Veeri, Fehmeeda Sofi and Naheeda Nasreen to Tihar Jail and other Indian prisons after booking them under false cases.
