ISLAMABAD: The current monsoon spell will continue for seven more days in Pakistan and its intensity will become high in next three days, according to Meteorological Department.
The Met office predicted heavy rains for the entire Sindh including Karachi and South Punjab for today (Wednesday) and tomorrow (Thursday).
Following rains in Sindh and South Punjab, the current monsoon spell will spread in Balochistan. Rain is also expected in the adjacent areas of Indus River in Punjab that included Mianwali, Kandiyan, Dawood Khel, Layyah and Bhakhar.
The continuous driving rains incited rivers to wreak havoc and forced the citizens to shift to safer locations along with their livestock.
The monsoonal showers sparked flooding that deluged several localities in Punjab and Sindh. The water level exceeded 455,000 cusecs at Taunsa in Muzaffargarh.
Alipur’s villages have been inundated under floodwater. The relief camps were set up but there is no one there. The floodwater roared into towns of Jhok Utra and Jakhar Imam Shah in Dera Ghazi Khan tehsil of Kot Chatta.
District administration issued flood warning for catchment areas of Indus River, as the river is running high near Kot Mithan and Rojhan in Rajanpur. The hundreds of villages are submerged under water. The intense flow of floodwater took a child away.
Flood warning has been issued for Hajipur and adjacent areas. Guddu Barrage is running in moderate flood and Sukkur Barrage in low flood, as water entered Sukkur, Pano Aqil, Rohri and Ali Wahin.
Several villages in catchment area were affected by River Sindh in Kandhkot. The spillway of Tarbela Dam has been thrown open after water surged to higher level.
