Lieutenant-General (retd.) Muhammad Alam Khattak has been appointed new governor of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province following approval of the summary of the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
PM Nawaz approved summary pertaining appointment of new KP governor following which Lt. Gen. (retd.) Muhammad Alam Khattak succeeded Sardar Mehtab Khan Abbasi after his resignation.
Newly-appointed Khattak had also served as Corps Commander Quetta, Inspector General Frontier Corps (IG-FC) KP and Balochistan. He is currently performing duties as defence secretary. Khattak will resign from the post of defence secretary.
