WASHINGTON: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has raised concerns over China’s move to veto a UN action against Pakistan for releasing alleged Mumbai terror mastermind Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi, local media reported on Tuesday.

According to details, India has taken up the issue with China at the highest levels of leadership.

Modi’s reaction came following China blocked India’s move in the United Nations for action against Pakistan.

India’s Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Vikas Swarup has confirmed that they were taking up the matter with Chinese leadership.

India approached the UN last month after court  ordered to release Lakhvi from Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi in April.

Lakhvi was formally released from Adiala Jail after he submitted surety bonds of Rs2 million, following the Lahore High Court (LHC) verdict declaring his detention orders illegal.
