MULTAN: The metro bus service has been started on trial basis in Multan today (Tuesday).
The provincial government has decided to officially inaugurate metro bus service in the city from November after which it will be completely opened for the citizens.
However, the service has been handed over to the private bus company for the time being.
It is pertinent to mention here that project was completed with a cost of Rs 28.50 billion while Rs 20 has been fixed as a transport fare from each passenger.
In Lahore, metro bus service was inaugurated on February 10, 2013 whereas the test run of articulated 29 buses was conducted on December, 25, 2012 from Gajju Matta to Kalma Chowk Flyover.
The Chief Minister of Punjab Shehbaz Sharif drove the bus from Chungi Amar Sidhu to Gajju Matta.
On June 4, 2015, metro bus was started in Islamabad with 14 metro bus terminals whereas 10 stations were made in Rawalpindi.
Earlier, Shahbaz Sharif announced to change the name of Rawalpindi metro bus service to Pakistan metro bus service, stating the people across Pakistan live in Islamabad.
