ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that the message has been conveyed to the world that China stands with the Islamic world.

According to a local TV, Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi said this while addressing a joint press conference with OIC Secretary General Hussain Ibrahim Taha after the OIC meeting.

The foreign minister said that the Chinese foreign minister had made it clear that China was keen to invest in OIC countries, adding that China would invest $400 billion under the BRI project.

He said that he was grateful to the OIC Secretary General for his cooperation and also wanted to thank the Chinese Foreign Minister. This was the first time that a Chinese Foreign Minister had attended the OIC conference.

The foreign minister said that the Ministry of Information and the Ministry of Home Affairs played a vital role in organizing the conference, the Armed Forces and the police provided excellent security. Prime Minister Imran Khan took a personal interest in the preparations for the OIC, he added.

He said that despite UN resolutions, Kashmir issue is still unresolved, serious human rights violations continue in occupied Kashmir, the purpose of the OIC meeting was to draw the attention of the international community to the situation in Afghanistan. After 2019, the gravity of the situation in Occupied Kashmir has further increased.

The foreign minister said that Pakistan’s position on the issue of Palestine is clear and consistent. Pakistan has always been a supporter of Palestinian sovereignty. The passage of a resolution against Islamophobia is welcome for the entire nation.

Qureshi said that there was a need to hold a ministry meeting on the Indian accidental missile fire incident and discuss the mechanism for regional peace.

Addressing a joint press conference, the Foreign Minister said that the OIC delegates had expressed concern over the war in Ukraine and called for the release of a humanitarian relief worker in Ukraine.
