LONDON: New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum set a new record in the English T20 Blast competition with a blistering 158 not out off 64 balls for his county Warwickshire.
McCullum clubbed 13 fours and 11 sixes in a thrilling 64-ball knock at Edgbaston, to lead the North Division leaders to 242 for two.
McCullum also scored an unbeaten 158 for Kolkata Knight Riders on the first day of the Indian Premier League in 2008, with his two centuries occupying joint second on the all-time T20 list behind Chris Gayle’s unbeaten 175.
Derbyshire managed 182 all out for a 60-run defeat, with four wickets for Josh Poysden.
Warwickshire’s director of cricket, Dougie Brown, said after the match: “Brendon McCullum’s innings was brutal, it was measured and it was world-class.
So this was how Brendon McCullum brought up his 150 for @BearsT20 last night. He’s on a different planet #TheDon https://t.co/DrygfuD5a7
