DUBAI: Maulana Tariq Jameel, a renowned religious scholar, was offloaded from a Toronto-bound Emirates Airlines here on Wednesday.
When contacted, Canadian authorities told Jasarat.com that Maulana Tariq Jameel had been offloaded over incomplete security clearance.
Sources told Jasarat.com that the religious leader was traveling with former star Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Khan Afridi to Toronto, where they had to attend a charity dinner being hosted by Shahid Khan Afridi Foundation.
Jameel was to leave for Toronto with cricketer Shahid Afridi for a charity dinner. The former was waiting for the security matters to be cleared at Dubai airport when this report was filed.
Authorities at the Dubai airport, told Maulana Tariq Jameel that his security clearance was not cleared by the Canadian authorities. The scholar had complete travel documents including Canadian visa.
Later, Shahid Khan Afridi left for Toronto alone while Maulana Tariq Jameel was staying in Dubai to get his security clearance for his onward journey.
