GUJRANWALA: Chairperson, Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Marvi Memon on Sunday said the country was in a state of war against terrorism and all political parties should help to weed out this menace.
Talking to the media after addressing the local bodies representatives in the committee room of DCO Gujranwala, she said the federal as well as provincial governments were rooting out terrorism and completely in contact with one another.
She said the tenure of Benazir Income Support scheme survey would conclude this year and it had been decided to take the services of people’s representatives for new survey so that relief amounts could be provided to deserving families without any discrimination.
The BISP has been kept away from politics she said and added that the poor were not a part of any political party but they were the part of all political parties, therefore, newly-elected representatives should point out shortcomings in their respective areas.
Marvi said steps were being taken to make the payments process of relief amounts easy so that deserving women could get relief without any difficulty. She urged the newly-elected UC representatives to scrutinize the lists of deserving persons in their respective areas and identify those deserving families which were not getting relief amount and send them to self-registration counters for registration.
BISP Punjab Director General Sehrish Saeed and Regional Director Nadeem Alam Butt briefed the BISP chairperson about the distribution of relief amounts, scrutiny of lists and other matters.
MNA Ch Mehmood Bashir Virk, Shazia Farid, MPA Nawaz Chohan, Tofeeq Butt, Abdul Rauf Mughal and UC chairmen were also present.
