KARACHI: The Karachi Marriage Hall Owners Association has refused to close the wedding halls on November 20.
Addressing a press conference here at the Karachi Press Conference on Saturday, the officials of the marriage hall association said that they would not take back their decision as livelihood of millions of people is linked to the marriage halls.
They said that they had already received millions of rupees in advance booking for the marriage ceremonies. We will not close the wedding halls as we are following all the standard operating procedures (SOPs), they added.
Last week, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) had placed a ban on the in-door wedding ceremonies to stop spread the rising cases of coronavirus in the country.
The NCOC had put restrictions on the in-door wedding events from Nov 20 to Jan 31 in the wake of the second wave of Covid-19 in the country.
