A high-intensity bomb explosion hit a busy meat market in Nigeria’s northeastern city of Maiduguri city that claimed at least 50 lives on the spot on Tuesday.
A busy meat market has been targeted by a bomb blast in Maiduguri city of Nigeria that killed dozens of shoppers and travellers, an eyewitness quoted by foreign news agency.
Military sources said that the bomb was planted under a butcher’s table in the market that went off at around 1pm local time, claiming as many as 50 lives.
Charred bodies were shifted to the teaching hospital in Maiduguri while dozens were were brought in with severe injuries.
No group has claimed responsibility of the deadly bomb explosion so far.
Earlier, two bomb attacks over the weekend killed at least 30 persons and bore the hallmarks of Nigerian militant group Boko Haram.
