Machh incident: Talks between protesters, govt successful

QUETTA: Negotiations between the sit-in protesters and the government on the Machh tragedy were successful after which the families of the martyrs agreed on burial.

Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan, Federal Minister Ali Zaidi, Deputy Speaker National Assembly Qasim Suri and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Zulfi Bukhari resumed talks with the sit-in participants after which the family members agreed to bury the dead after a six-day sit-in.

Talking to media on the occasion, Ali Zaidi said that the demands put before us were difficult, the officers to be removed have been decided. We have reached a written agreement with the Martyrs Action Committee as no government has ever entered into a written agreement in the past.

Zaidi announced that his ministry would provide scholarships to students from the families of martyrs.
