KARACHI: Sindh government spokesman Murtaza Wahab has announced that the ongoing lockdown restrictions would continue throughout the holy month of Ramazan.
He recalled that on April 23 the Sindh home department had issued a notification, saying the lockdown put in place before Ramazan would continue till the end of the holy month.
Wahab clarified that the said notification is valid till to date. He added that the Sindh government had no plan to withdraw the notification.
The spokesperson said that only few sectors had been allowed to reopen.
Earlier on Thursday, Prime Minister Imran Khan had said that the coronavirus situation and related response in the country is much better as compared to other countries.
Imran Khan said that the virus cases in the country are less than the projected as of 30th April.
The prime minister said that the masses cooperated as we put in place lockdown when we had 26 confirmed cases in the country.
We had assumed that our hospitals would be packed to capacity by now but our situation is much better now, he added.
