LoC martyrs: Funeral prayers offered in Jhelum

RAWALPINDI: Funeral prayers have offered in Jhelum for Pakistani soldiers who sacrificed lives in unprovoked firing by Indian troops on Line of Control (LoC), Director General Inter-Services Public Relations said in latest statement.

The funeral prayers were attended by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif and many high-level military officials. COAS paid rich tribute to the martyred soldiers over their valour bravery and sacrifices of lives for Pakistan.

Later, the Army Chief was briefed over situation at the Line of Control (LoC) in Jhelum. General Raheel Sharif directed to continue response effectively and leave no stone unturned to defend motherland.

Earlier, seven Pakistani soldiers have embraced martyrdom when Indian forces opened unprovoked firing in Bhimber Sector on the Line of Control, ISPR said on Monday.

Pakistani troops befittingly responded to the fire, the statement added.

The incident takes place a day after Pakistan formally opened trade activities at the Gwadar Port. The CPEC project is being carried out jointly by Pakistan and China at a cost of $46 dollars.

Recently, India had warned China against developing the economic corridor via Pakistan.
