Hanif Mohammad is alive, says son Shoaib

Pakistan Cricket legend Hanif Mohammad who was reportedly passed away after prolong illness in a local hospital in Karachi, now his son Shoaib Mohammad says that his father is still alive.

The 81-year-old Little Master’ was facing health complications and undergoing treatment for cancer in a private hospital.

It was reported earlier that, the cricket’s heart stopped beating but after shocks therapy his heart came back to live after six minutes.

His son, also former cricket, Shoaib Mohammad said he had speak to the doctor earlier who told that little mater’s heart had stopped beating.

When, I reached the hospital, the doctor told that Hanif’s heart had stopped beating but it came back to live after shock therapy,” Shoaib said.

Currently the legend is still on ventilator but his health is getting stable.

Couple of days ago, it was reported that Hanif was going through breathing problems, owing to which he was shifted to a ventilator on Monday.

The cricket legend, nicknamed “Little Master” played the longest innings in Test history – his 970-minute 337 against West Indies in Bridgetown in 1957-58. The knock was followed a year later with the highest first-class innings to that point, 499 run out.

Hanif was known for his defensive batting but could attack when the situation called for it, and many claim he is the originator of the reverse-sweep.

Hanif represented Pakistan in 55 Tests, scoring 3,915 runs at an average of 43.98. He still holds the record for highest score (337) in an innings by a Pakistani batsman followed by Inzamamul Haq (329) and Younus Khan (313). The veteran was also named as Wisden Cricketer of the Year in 1968.
