Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) secretary general Liaquat Baloch has appreciated the arrest of the culprits behind the Safora tragedy and has expressed the hope that this would help in tracing the master mind and the entire chain of the conspiracy.
In a statement here on Wednesday, he said that the success of the Karachi operation would restore peace in the country. However, he said that the government and the armed forces should not yield to any political pressure or blackmailing from any side and action should be taken against the terrorists and criminals irrespective of their cast or colour.
Liaqat Baloch said that the government institutions and police culture were simply breeding hatred and despair. Corruption and commissions had crept into the entire government machinery. He welcomed the idea of politicians’ accountability but added that the state institutions who had lowered the image of the nation in the world eye, should not be above the law.
Liaqat Baloch also stressed upon the Punjab Chief Minister to apprise the nation of the outcome of the enquiry into the Shah Alam Market and the Shershah Road tragedies.
He said that the JI would stage protest rallies against the unlawful and inhuman verdict of an Egyptian court sentencing to death former Egyptian President Dr Muhammad Mursi, Akhwanul Muslimoon chief Dr Muhammad Badie, and world fame Muslim scholar Dr Muhammad Yousuf Qarzhavi, in Islamabad Karachi and the Punjab capital on May 24.
