KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Secretary General Liaqat Baloch visited Haji Abdul Rauf and Haji Iqbal at their residence to express solidarity with the Ary media group against vandalizing of the channel, by MQM goons after the controversial speech of the then MQM chief Altaf Hussain.
Speaking on the occasion, Baloch said that some certain elements have been attempting to destroy peace of the city, since long.
He said that along with target killing in the city, attempts are being made under a designed conspiracy to limit the freedom of expression. Recently, what was happened at the office of ARY channel is highly condemn-able. Storming media houses to get the airing of their own will and in their favour is a very nefarious act, he said.
The JI leader demanded of the government to arrest the culprits of attacking ARY and other media houses.
He said that the JI has been advocating for a free and transparent media, since day one and added that JI workers will stand shoulder to shoulder with journalists for the sake of freedom of the media.
JI Karachi chief Naeem-ur-Rehman, JI Karachi deputy chief Osama Razi, JI Karachi Information Secretary Zahid Askari and other were also accompanying Liaqat Baloch.
