Liaqat Baloch asks govt to issue a code of conduct for sanctity of Ramazan

Secretary General, Jamaat e Islami, Liaqat Baloch, who is also Secretary general of the MMA, has called upon the federal and the provincial governments to  issue a code of conduct to ensure the sanctity of the holy month of Ramazan and for the availability of the necessities of life to the common man on reduced prices.

Addressing a meeting held at Mansoora in this connection, he called upon the federal cabinet to announce subsidy of at least Rs. 15 billion on food stuff.  He also demanded opening of two Ramazan bazaars in each Union Council for the provision of all necessary items on subsidized rates.

He said it was unfortunate that every year, the traders and shopkeepers raised the prices of food items during the month of Ramazan causing hardships to the general public.

Liaqat Baloch said that the every year, the government made tall claims of providing subsidy but the general public did not get any relief from that. He stressed that sufficient quantity of all essential items should be made available at the Utility Stores so that the people could easily avail the facility without lining up there for hours.

He said that an effective and coordinated system should be adopted to control the prices in the open market and the industrialists and traders should be given an incentive to cut down the prices of their products during the sacred month.

The MMA Secretary General expressed the hope that there would be no load shedding at Sehr and Iftar timings during the month of Ramazan.

He also called for strict ban on display of obscene posters and holdings outside cinema houses and on road side and closure of Shisha centers and other intoxicants sales.

Liaqat Baloch also urged the governments to ensure observance of Eidul Fitr on the same day all over the country as a demonstration of complete national unity and harmony.
