LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday barred excise department Punjab to receive taxes from Pakistan International Airline (PIA).
The PIA has submitted a petition against fixing of tax on the PIA plane placed at Chowberjee in Lahore for entertainment purpose of masses.
The petition argued that the PIA is federal entity and provincial government could not authorize to send tax notice to PIA.
The LHC one member bench Justice Aisha Malik after hearing arguments from both the sides has issued stay order and summoned report from excise department.
It is pertinent to mention here that provincial excise department had charged tax of 1.5 millions rupees to PIA for its standing plane at Chowberjee.
