LG Bill: Sit-in to continue till written agreement reached with Sindh govt, says Hafiz Naeem

KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Ameer Hafiz Naeem Ur Rehman has announced to continue the sit-in till a written agreement is reached with the Sindh government with regard to the local government bill.

Speaking to the media on the 28th day of the protest here on Thursday, Hafiz Naeem said that the JI was performing the duty of representing Karachi. It is a peaceful struggle. The 2021’s Municipal Act is not acceptable.

He said that the sit-in would continue till a written agreement is made with the Sindh government on the LG Bill.

Hafiz Naeem said that the union committee of Karachi should increase, the Constitution orders the transfer of powers. Our demand is to give the mayor a empowered government. All KMC schools, hospitals, hospitals should be returned, PFC award should be awarded. The motor vehicle tax should be given back to local government so that the mayor should also be given a share in the finance.
