KARACHI: Legendary cricketer Hanif Muhammad was laid to rest at the PECHS graveyard here on Friday. Earlier, the `Namaz-i-Janaza’ was offered at Nomania Masjid after Friday prayers.
It was led by Mufti Taqi Usmani and attended by a large number of players, politicians and people from various walks of life. Prominent among them were Provincial Sports Minister, Sardar Muhammad Bux Mahar, cricketers Zaheer Abbas, Javed Miandad, Moeen Khan, Squash legend Jahangir Khan, Senator Saeed Ghani.
Hanif Muhammad had died at a local hospital on Thursday afternoon after illness. He was 81. In the cricket world he is better know as the Little Master because of his exceptional performance in the game.
He was born in Junagadh in 1934 and began his Test career in October 1952. Hanif represented Pakistan in 55 Tests scoring 3,915 runs with 12 centuries. His highest score was 337.
