ISLAMABAD: Information Minister Pervaiz Rasheed says inquiry commission on the Panama Leaks is a legal matter and law experts are analyzing the Supreme Court`s letter on the issue.
In a statement issued on Friday, he said the commission will be constituted and the matter will be cleared. He urged the opposition to avoid making the commission a political debate and honor sanctity of the apex court, Radio Pakistan reported.
Pervaiz Rasheed said the opposition has always been changing its goal posts. He said the opposition will have to shun stubbornness and agree upon a pragmatic solution. The Minister said the government wants free, fair and unbiased accountability.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court of Pakistan has informed the government that a final response to its request for constitution of a Commission of Inquiry will be given if its formation is considered under some proper legislation.
In response to the letter of the Government on the subject, the registrar of the apex court also pointed out that an open ended inquiry may take years to conclude.
The court said it is necessary to have the list of all individuals, families, groups and companies, which are to be probed under Terms of Reference of the Commission.
