MARDAN/NOWSHERA: Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan Wednesday said that the local government system would empower the people to take their decisions at the local level, adding that the new LB system would bring revolution in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Addressing party workers in Mardan and Nowshera, the PTI chief claimed that he himself had structured a Local Government system for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after reviewing the systems abroad.
“The youth will be empowered for their education, their sports ground. You will make decisions under the newly-structured local government system,” Khan said.
Appreciating the role of youth, he said it was their power that both “secular ANP and right-wing Maulana Fazlur Rehman” joined hands against PTI. Criticizing the Awami National Party (ANP), the PTI chairman questioned as to why it failed to hold LG elections when they were governing for 5 years in the province.
“The ANP did not conduct local government elections because they were happy with an easy load system, where MPAs and MNAs took hold of money and funds,” he said. He vowed that the people of KP would no longer need to run after MNAs as funds would be disseminated to district and village level.
This was real freedom when Mardan, Nowshera would be freed and make its own decisions and Peshawar would not influence its decision making, he added.
He also criticized the metro bus projects, saying that it is not development but the real development is when the rulers spend money on the people.
