Law college principal’s killing: Lawyers boycott continue on day 2

The lawyers in Balochistan’s provincial capital Quetta continue to boycott the courts on the second day over the assassination of the principal of University of Balochistan’s law college, Barrister Amanullah Achakzai, who was shot dead by unknown assailants at Spini Road on Wednesday morning.

The lawyers across the city are observing a black day today (Friday) as well, hovering black flags in court rooms. They also boycott all court activities as well.

It is pertinent to mention here that, Barrister Amanullah was on his way to work when unidentified assailants riding on motorcycles opened fire on him in Kalli Tarkha area.

The barrister was severely wounded when his vehicle was sprayed with bullets by the gunmen. Achakzai succumbed to his wounds before he could reach Civil Hospital Quetta. Doctors reported that Amanullah was hit by five to six bullets.

Police said there have been no claims of responsibility for the attack and the reason behind the attack could not be immediately ascertained.

Amanullah Achakzai was nephew of Governor Balochistan Muhammad Khan Achakzai and Pashtunkhwa Miilli Awami Party (PMAP) leader Mehmood Khan Achakzai.

Relatives of the victim told that he had no enmity against anyone.
