LAHORE: At least three labourers were burnt to death and some others scorched as fire broke out in a garments factory on Thursday.
Rescue sources said that fire initiated due to an electric short circuit which engulfed a garments factory located at Ravi Road in Lahore. Due to cloth and chemical present in the factory the fire spread rapidly and swallowed up to all units.
The fire brigades rushed the scene of fire soon after being informed but it head to face hardship due to congested and narrow streets. The fire was extinguished after hectic efforts of about two and a half hours.
Meantime, three labourers Jehanzeb, Shahid and Javed were burnt to death while some others suffered burn wounds. The bodies and scorched people were shifted to Mayo Hospital Lahore for medico-legal formalities.
