RIYADH: Saudi Arabia on Sunday confirmed that it had send warplanes to Turkey to fight against Islamic State in Syria.
Saudi Arabia defence ministry spokesperson Brig. Gen. Ahmed Al-Assiri said that they wanted to expedite the operations against IS in Syria.
He confirmed deployment of Saudi warplanes to the Turkish base of Incirlik, a key hub for US-led coalition operations against Daesh, already used by Britain, France and the US carrying for cross-border air raids.
United States Defence Secretary Ash Carter welcomed the Saudi Arabia stance.
