PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan on Saturday said that the Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa (KP) government did not want a tiff with doctors.

‘The KP government would take any step necessary for betterment of health facilities in the province. The hospital would be inaugurated on Dec 29th. The hospital would make treatment available for commoners,’ he said while giving statement about recent tensions with KP doctors while addressing a fund-raising gathering for Shaukat Khanum Hospital in Peshawar.

Khan said that majority of doctors are genuinely willing to better hospitals’ administrations. However, he said that few medics have approached the court and the party would follow.

While addressing the gathering, Khan also announced a Shaukat Khanum Hospital in Karachi.

Earlier on Friday, doctors had called to observe a ‘black day’ after they took offense of Khan’s statement that held them responsible for failure of reform-attempt in hospitals. Lady Reading Hospital continued its activities and treatments despite the call. Doctors were not seen with black armbands which the associations had called them to wear.

Interestingly, Khan had to wait for media to cover his press conference as he was early at the venue today.
