PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak has asked planners to devising a long term comprehensive and efficient plan for protection of the entire province from the devastation of floods on sound footings to be implemented with the help of federal government.
This he said while presiding over mid-term review meeting of ADP 2015-16 here on Monday. The meeting reviewed implementation status of projects being carried out under communication and works, Irrigation, Finance, Home, Auqaf, Public Health Engineering, Local Government, Industries, Science and Technology, Special Initiative and Multi Sectoral Development Department on the occasion.
The meeting besides reviewing pace of work of the uplift scheme also discussed impediments in implementations of the schemes while a number of decisions were made to speed up work on the developmental projects.
The Chief Minister directed for chalking out of a phased wised plan for protection of the province from the damages of flood in future in the light of the survey conducted about the losses caused by 2010 floods.
He informed that the proposed plan to be made for the saving of the province from the damages of flood would be carried out with the financial assistance of the federal government.
The Chief Minister strictly banned making changes in the sites and revision of uplift scheme.
He asked heads of the departments to specify proper sites for the developmental schemes right before its approval.
He further directed high ups of various departments to consult C&W department to chalk out realistic and implementable uplift schemes.
The Chief Minister while directing to complete the ongoing projects of roads in the province ordered planners not to include any new road projects in the next budget.
He ordered heads of the departments to ensure pre qualification of firms to avoid any sort of delay in implementation of schemes.
The Chief Minister directed to make amendments in KP PPRA rules to avoid certain complications faced in procurement procedure of up lift projects in the province.
Similarly, directives were issued for construction of special wing at Peshawar prison to provide proper space for accommodation the inmates of the jail.
The Chief Minister while directing inclusion of no more drinking water schemes in the coming budget ordered electrification of public health engineering and irrigation tubes wells through solar energy.
