ISLAMABAD: Opposition figures on Thursday demanded action against the managing director of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) over the deadly air crash near Havelian, Abbottabad that claimed 47 lives on Wednesday.
Opposition Leader in the National Assembly (NA) Khursheed Shah questioned when six new ATR jets have been restricted to not fly to Gilgit or Chitral, then how was this plane being operated for those areas. He demanded action be taken against the MD PIA over the tragic crash that resulted in loss of precious lives.
An ATR-42 aircraft of the PIA first went missing on Civil Aviation Authority radar and then crashed moments later on Wednesday afternoon near Havelian in district Abbottabad, with 42 passengers and five crew members on-board.
Renowned Naatkhuwan Junaid Jamshed and his wife were also among the 47 people who died in the deadly crash.
