ISLAMABAD: Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Asif has said that Sindh government responsible for the heat weave deaths in Karachi. More than 1,000 people lost their lives during the ongoing heat weave in Karachi.
While addressing in the National Assembly he said, “The basic responsibility of the Karachi deaths is of Sindh government. In Karachi, 70 percent of the casualties were labourers who lost their lives during the heat wave”.
Asif said that he had directed the National Electric and Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) to take notice and submit an inquiry report over the incident.
He said that that power load-shedding started from the first of Ramazan and added that the government was trying to tackle the issue.
While answering to opposition he said that the shortage of land in the graveyards was due to the illegal housing colonies being built on graveyards’ land.
