ISLAMABAD: Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Mohammad Asif Saturday strongly refuted the wrong impression in media reports regarding transfer of Mr Younus Dagha as Secretary Watr and Power.
In a statement here, the Water and Power Minister pointed out that Mr Younus Dagha’s tenure as Secretary Water & Power has turned around the sector with unprecedented increase in recoveries and reduction in losses bringing a huge sum of Rs 116 billion in cash benefit to the sector, apart from several other contributions to sector’s performance.
The Minister said his attention to all spheres of the performance of power sector helped bringing zero load shedding to industries and reduction in the urban and rural load shedding from 15-18 hours to 4-6 hours. The current spell of low hydel generation cannot be attributed to any individual. This has already been clarified by the Ministry.
The government values the contribution of Mr Younus Dagha to the power sector and would never think of blaming him for the natural cause of low power generation. He has been assigned the important post of Secretary Commerce in view of his excellent performance record, he added.—INP
