KARACHI: Karachi police chief Ghulam Nabi Memon has said that key suspect who killed journalist Athar Mateen had been arrested.
The police chief confirmed the arrest of main suspect Ashraf Brohi involved in the murder of Samaa TV journalist Athar Mateen, saying that the accused was detained from the Sindh-Balochistan border.

He said the accused is under investigation and further details in this regard will be shared with the media soon.

On the other hand, Sindh Information Minister Saeed Ghani also confirmed the arrest of the accused involved in the murder of journalist Athar Mateen, saying that Ashraf Brohi was arrested by Sindh Police.
Last week, a local journalist was gunned down in Nazimabad area.
Police said that Athar Mateen, senior producer of Samaa TV, was on his way home after dropping his children at school when unknown motorcyclists tried to stop him. The journalist instead of stopping his car hit the motorcyclists. As a result, the attackers fell down but of them managed to open fire on the car, killing Athar Mateen on the spot.
Later, the attackers fled from the scene after snatching another motorcycle from a citizen.
It it to be mentioned here that Athar Mateen was younger brother of renowned newscaster and anchorperson Tariq Mateen.
Police said that the incident appeared to be a robbery attempt, however, clear picture would emerge after investigation.
