Media houses attacked: COAS telephones DG Rangers Sindh

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Monday phoned Director General Rangers Sindh Major General Bilal Akbar to discuss ongoing tensions in the metropolis Karachi.

Army Chief was given briefing by the DG Rangers Sindh regarding the security moves made by the security agencies after emergence of violence in the city.

COAS directed the DG Rangers Sindh to arrest culprits behind the attacks on media houses, as well as restoration of peace in Karachi.

DG Rangers vowed that all culprits behind the violence will be arrested today.

Earlier, outrageous Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) had attacked Ary News and Neo TV offices in Madina Mall of Karachi on Monday.

MQM workers once again attacked media houses in the metropolis after concluding Hunger Strike organised before Karachi Press Club (KPC).

At least six persons including policemen, journalists and locals were reportedly wounded by firing and stoning by the MQM protestors while two motorcycles and a police van were torched at the spot. A large numbers of locals were still stranded in the nearby shopping plazas due to the deteriorated situation.
