The residents of Karachi will face shortage of gas supply coupled with low-pressure for the next 24 hours as a result of sudden shortage of the natural resource from Naimat-Basal field, announces Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC).

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, the gas utility wrote: “SSGC is faced with a sudden shortage of 50 mmcfd gas from the upstream Naimat- Bassal Gas Field.”

The SSGC added that as a result of this curtailment, the consumers in Karachi would face short supply or low-pressure issues for the next 24 hours.

Earlier, the SSGC had said that it would shut down gas supplies to all industries and compressed natural gas (CNG) stations in Sindh for 48 hours. The shut down started from Saturday morning.

It further said that the decision was taken in accordance with the gas sales agreement for industrial customers approved by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) and the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the cabinet that allows the the gas company to manage gas load according to the sectoral priority order.
