Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Senator Sirajul Haq said that MQM leader Altaf Husain’s demand for separate Karachi province,  ‘Sindh One’ and ‘Sindh Two’ was the reaction of the Rangers raid at 90 and the arrests of the wanted criminals in accord with the decision of the Establishment and the government.

Addressing sectional heads of the JI here on Tuesday, he said that creation of provinces on the basis of ethnicity, sectarianism or nationalities would lead to chaos. He said there was no harm in creating new provinces on administrative grounds in accordance with the constitution if there was consensus in this respect.

He said that in that case, the matter would not end with the division of Sindh alone as several other units could crop up as there was already demand for Saraiki and Hazara provinces besides from the Pushtoon belt. However, he said that raising such an issue without consensus would be disastrous for national unity.

He said the enemies of Islam and Pakistan wanted to disintegrate the country by fanning parochial feelings similar to the separation of East Pakistan in 1971 and the political leadership should foil such designs through prudence.

Sirajul Haq said that the JI wanted an end to the status quo and was struggling for the rights of the masses. He said that the masses too should stop feeding the serpents by voting for the corrupt and self-centered politicians and elect those sincerely fighting for their rights.

The JI chief said that if those ruling the country for the last 68 years had been faithful to the country’s ideology, the nation would not been stood divided in numerous groups today. He said the rulers’ failure to implement the country’s constitution had caused disappointment among the people. Wide spread nepotism of the rulers had given a death blow to merit and the kith and kin of the corrupt rulers were holding key positions in every sector.

Sirajul Haq said that terrorism was not a product of this country. Terrorism and lawlessness were the result of Pervez Musharraf’s policies and the country and the nation was suffering for that. He said that terrorism had been imported and made a means of earnings. However, he said that the government was strong enough to end terrorism.

He said the JI wanted the federal and the provincial governments to complete their terms so that the masses were disillusioned about their catchy slogans and promises and the next elections proved to be the Day of Reckoning for the rulers.
