KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah on Sunday said that the Karachi operation would continue till complete elimination of terrorism from the city.
He said that the provincial government wanted the Rangers to continue the operation till its logical end and it had always cooperated with the federal government in that regard. The federation, he hoped, would not ignore its point of view on the matter.
Talking to senior journalists here at the Chief Minister House, Qaim Ali Shah said that his meeting with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had been promising while all issues (regarding the operation) would be discussed with Minister for Interior Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan, who would soon visit the provincial capital.
The Chief Minister said that the Rangers were given exclusive powers and mandate in four cases and the provincial government wanted the law enforcement agency to continue the operation in accordance with the mandate. This issue would also be taken up with Chaudhary Nisar, he added.
He said that he had heard the news of arrest of Islamic State (IS) operatives in Punjab. An effective action should be taken against all terrorist groups, including the IS, wherever they might be, he stressed.
