KARACHI: Director General Rangers Major General Bilal Akbar has announced that operation against terrorists and their facilitators would continue to further consolidate prevailing peaceful situation in Karachi.
Speaking at a function here on Saturday, Major General Bilal Akbar said to further consolidate the peaceful situation, administration, police, and others working for good governance will have to take their efforts at a higher level to strengthen the peaceful environment. He said it is our collective responsibility and declared to strengthen peace in the mega city.
Director Rangers announced three major initiatives to mitigate the sufferings of people of Karachi. He said the first initiative will be launching of Skill Development Centre which would start functioning very soon. He said preference would be given at the skill development centre to youths of the areas of the city where the incidents of violence were more. He said this would open doors for bright future of the youth as tens of thousands new job opportunities would be opened through development of industries in Karachi and CPEC related projects .He said children of victims of Karachi violence, target killings and innocent people killed would be given preference.
He said the second imitative will be Victims Support Programme to support families of poor and innocent people who were burnt and killed or became target of blasts and kidnapping for ransom. He said Sindh government is supporting the programme and they will collect data of victims and extend whatever assistance is required to them including pursuing of cases of their relatives in courts. Support will also be provided to children of victims who want to pursue their study.
Major General Bilal Akbar said another initiative would be Rangers Rehabilitation Centre for youths to rehabilitate the youths who got themselves associated with militants and proscribed organisations but were not involved in heinous crimes. He said 30-32 children have already joined them and their doors are open for such children who come with their family member. The Rangers will evaluate with help of experts for their rehabilitation, whether education, medical treatment, psychological treatment and skill development. He hoped that the youths will benefit from these initiatives.
