Karachi operation not against any political party: Interior Minister

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar on Monday told the National Assembly that Karachi Operation is not against any special political party including Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).

He said that the operation was launched with consensus of all political parties and everyone is in favour of the targeted operation except MQM. He was responding to the point of order raised by MQM’s lawmaker Farooq Sattar in the Lower House today.

He offered to expand consultation process on Karachi situation with the government, opposition and MQM but it needed a friendly environment. He termed that most of the figures being quoted by MQM for its missing person as ‘mere propaganda.’

He said that Rangers had no plans to raid MQM headquarters Nine Zero and he could reveal the reason behind it if parliament wanted to make it public.He added that arrests of MQM parliamentarians were prevented after intervention of the Interior Minister.

During his address in NA, Nisar strongly condemned Kasur child abuse scandal and termed it a ‘heinous crime’.
