ISLAMABAD: Justice Mian Saqib Nisar will take over as Chief Justice of Pakistan at an impressive ceremony at the supreme court here on Saturday.
He will succeed Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali who retired on Friday, 30th December, 2016.
According to the seniority list, he will be the 25th Chief Justice of Pakistan after Anwar Zaheer Jamali and will remain on this post until 17 January 2019, his retirement date.
Justice Saqib Nisar has been Justice of the Supreme Court since 18 February 2010 and has served as judge of Lahore High Court prior to that. Before becoming a judge, he was an advocate of Supreme Court Bar Association and Lahore High Court Bar Association. He was elected Secretary General of Lahore High Court Bar Association in 1991.
According to reports, Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali vacated his official residence as well as Chamber in the supreme court.
