JUI-F leader Maulana Mohammad Hanif laid to rest amid strike being observed in parts of Balochistan

CHAMAN: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam’s (JUI-F) local leader Maulana Mohammad Hanif, who died in a blast yesterday, was laid to rest here amid a shutter-down strike being observed in parts of Balochistan on Sunday.

His funeral prayers were attended by thousands of people including JUI-F Balochistan Ameer Maulana Abdul Wasay, Senator Usman Khan Kakar and others.

Earlier on Saturday, three people including JUI-F’s Maulana Muhammad Hanif were martyred and eight others injured, when the late JUI-F leader’s convoy was targeted by a blast occurred on Taj road.

Police sources said that the improvised explosive device (IED) planted on a motorcycle was used to target the convoy of JUI-F leader Maulana Muhammad Hanif. The blast was carried out through a remote-controlled device.

Maulana Muhammad Hanif was taken to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The blast was so laud that it was heard in several areas in the city. Windowpanes of several nearby houses and shops were shattered due to impact of the explosion.
