LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami, Secretary General Liaqat Baloch has said that the Chief Justice’s remarks reflected the bitter fact as monarchies and family rules had been going on in the country in the name of martial law and democracy.

Talking to the media after calling on the Milli Yakjehti Council president Dr Sahibzada Abul Khair Zubair in the city , he however said that unfortunately, the judiciary had been validating every unconstitutional move.

He said that the supremacy of the constitution and the law could be established only when the judiciary was totally independent and the masses rejected the dictators and monarchies with their vote.

Commenting on the Scotland Yards decision clearing Altaf Husain of the charges of money laundering, he said the British government had been fully protecting Altaf Husain in money laundering and Dr Imran Farooq’s murder cases.

He said the British institutions were providing relief to Altaf Husain despite having irrefutable evidence against him with specific objectives, interference in Pakistan’s internal affairs and to terrify the people of Karachi. However, he said that all the ugly faces had already been exposed and the people of Karachi were quite awake.

Liaqat Baloch expressed gratitude to all religious parties for their cooperation in maintaining peace and calm on Ashura. He also lauded the cooperation of the federal and provincial governments and the armed forces in this respect.
