Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik has denounced the lodging of Dukhtaran-e-Millat Chairperson, Aasiya Andrabi and her associates, Fehmeeda Sofi and Nahida Nasreen, at New Delhi’s notorious Tihar jail on a 30-day judicial remand by the Indian authorities.
According to Kashmir Media Service, resistance leadership in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the Indian National Investigation Agency’s adventurism in occupied Kashmir was part of India’s efforts to intimidate the pro-freedom leaders into submission.
It appealed to the international human rights organizations to send their teams to occupied Kashmir and India to observe the plight of the Kashmiri detainees lodged in different jails. The JRL also condemned the summoning of noted journalist, Aaqib Javaid Hakim, by NIA to New Delhi for questioning.
Global media watchdogs, International Federation of Journalists and Committee to Protect Journalists in their statements in Brussels and New York also denounced the harassment of Aaqib Javaid Hakim by the NIA.
Meanwhile, a Kashmiri PhD scholar, Mannan Wani in a letter mailed to media outlets said that the Kashmiris were fighting for liberation of their land from Indian occupation.
The 26-year-old Manan Wani, a research student of Applied Geology at Aligarh Muslim University, had gone missing in January this year, has come out for the first time since then with the letter.
Indian forces’ personnel used brute force on the students of Government Degree College, Kupwara, today, after they held a protest march against the recent killing of a youth, Khalid Ahmad Malik, by Indian troops in Trehgam area of the district.
Hurriyat leaders, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash and Javaid Ahmed Mir along with a delegation visited Redwani area of Kulgam district and expressed solidarity with the families of three civilians recently martyred by the troops.
