JI welcomes new army chief

LAHORE: Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Senator Sirajul Haq, has greeted Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa as the new Army Chief and Gen. Zubair Hayat as  Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff on their  new appointments.

In a brief statement, he said that the good wishes of the entire nation as also the JI were with the new leadership of the army.  He expressed the hope that the armed forces would continue their policies for wiping out terrorism, restoration of peace in Karachi and combating the challenges from India.

Senator Sirajul Haq was confident that Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa would face the challenges ahead with courage and the collective wisdom of the armed forces, and spare no efforts to further strengthen national security and solidarity.

The JI Secretary General, Liaqat Baloch, in his statement, welcomed Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa as the new army chief.  He said it was highly encouraging that an army chief was departing with grace and the new one was assuming his responsibilities under the law and the constitution.

He expressed the hope that the new army chief would raise the image of the armed forces like Gen. Raheel Sharif and play a leading role for the defense of the country. He said that if all the institutions worked within their constitutional limits, their image and prestige would improve.
