LAHORE: Jamaat e Islami’s deputy chief Dr Farid Ahmed Piracha, has welcomed the Sindh High Court orders banning liquor sale in the province as historic and has demanded of the federal and other provincial governments to follow suit thinking it a divine injunction.

In a statement here on Friday, he further demanded that the liquor factories all over the country and its import should also be completely banned.

Farid Piracha said that minorities leaders including Hindus and the Christians had repeatedly stated that liquor was also prohibited in their religions and drinking was not a part of any of their religious festivals. He said the people exploiting the name of the minorities for the sake of liquor were in fact insulting the minorities.
