KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has welcomed the apex court’s decision regarding the restoration of QinQi rickshaws and said that the ruling is representation of aspirations of millions of Karachiites.

In a statement on Wednesday, the JI leader said that the JI has been demanding restoration of the CNG rickshaws since day one. He was of the view that the decision to restrict the rickshaws was a quite unwise decision. Millions of commuters were badly affected by the illogical decision.

Stressing the need of a mass transit system in the metropolis, he said that a mass transit system is a must for any mega city and there was no need of CNG rickshaws if the ruling regime had paid any heed to the need of the city.

He demanded of the government to act upon the court’s orders in letter and spirit and issue certificates and permits to all deserving rickshaws.

The JI leader also demanded of the government to realize the gravity of the transport issue and bring at least 100 large buses on roads immediately so as to mitigate the miseries of commuters in Karachi.
