Karachi: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi chief Engr. Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has said that the grabbing mafia had been capturing the Islamic Cultural Centre and indeed the mafia has become one of the most severe issues of the city.
He expressed these views on Thursday while talking to the media outside Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) Karachi registry, where he was appeared in connection with hearing of a petition he filed against conversion of the Islamic Centre into a cinema.
The apex court adjourned the hearing till the next week as the counsel for the cinema and the theater remained fail to be appeared before the honorable judges. The court also directed the party to make alternate arrangements if the lawyer was on leave.
Engr. Naeem announced that the JI would not spare the land grabbing mafia and a comprehensive legal as well as public drive would be again launched in this regard. He vowed to get all parks and other spots of the city free from the clutches of land grabbers.
Further talking about the case pertaining to May 12, he demanded of the government to also investigate former dictator Pervez Musharraf, Governor Sindh Dr. Eshrat-ul-Ibad and former federal minister Babar Ghauri in connection with the carnage.
He said that the culprits of the May 12 killings had been caught red handed on video tapes but are still at large and the situation is a big question mark on the credibility and intentions of the government.
The JI leader said that at that time Ibad was working at the master mind of Muttahida Qaumi Movement, while the containers were provided by Ghauri, if the order to place them was given by Waseem Akhtar.
He also raised the question that what the then provincial secretary and IG police were doing at the Karachi airport when the city had become a blood pool.
He was of the view that the culprits of May 12should be brought to full justice. Only a JIT is not enough in this regard, he said citing the JIT of Baldia Town inferno.
