JI to participate in LG polls with complete homework

KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Amir Engr. Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has vowed that the JI would participate in the local government (LG) elections with complete homework and would serve Karachi with honesty and transparency.

He expressed these views on Tuesday while chairing a high power meeting to devise a strategy for the upcoming polls.

The JI leaders deliberated on the names for proposed candidates, participating in the LG polls. The meeting also considered options for seat adjustment with other political and religio-political parties.

Speaking on the occasion, the Engr. Naeem said that people of Karachi have been facing acute hardships since long and a local government setup is the only solution to their miseries.

He stresses the need for holding a peaceful, independent and transparent elections so as a true and honest leadership can be emerged.

The JI leader recalled that exemplary development works had been done during the LG tenures of Nematullah Khan and Abdul Sattar Afghani. He said that Nematullah Khan had increased the budget for Karachi from Rs 4 billion to Rs 42 billion and the proper usage of this fund with complete transparency had changed the appearance of the metropolis.

He further said that almost civic issues, being faced by the Karachites, would be resolved, if the programs initiated by the Nematullah’s city government are let be completed.

Engr. Naeem hoped that the upcoming LG elections would bestow a ray of hope to the people of Karachi.

JI Karachi Secretary Abdul Wahab, JI leaders Muslim Pervez, Sabir Ahmed Munem Zafar Khan, Abdul Razaq Khan and others participated in the meeting.
