JI, PTI leaders convey concerns to provincial EC

KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi chief Engr. Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Karachi head Syed Ali Zaidi called on the provincial election commissioner Tanvir Zaki at his office and presented him a letter, demanding effective measures to ensure free and fair polling on December, 5th.

On the occasion, the political leaders shared their views and suggested that Rangers personnel should be deployed in and outside the polling booths on the election day.

Later while talking to the media, Engr. Naeem said that they have conveyed their concerns to the relevant authorities regarding to assurance of a free and fair elections.

He was of the view that they had fulfilled their due legal and ethical responsibilities in regard with the LG elections while writing a letter to the provincial election commissioner.

The JI leader said that the situation in Karachi can not be changed without holding transparent elections. He said that the rights of people have always been looted through rigging elections.

He further said that they had sought lists of polling booths but the election commission is still fail to provide the lists.

He further said that a historical rally would be taken out on November 28, in which central leadership of both JI and PTI would be participating.

PTI’s Syed Ali Zaidi said that three letters have been sent to the election commissioners but none of them was responded so far. He was of the view that the mandate of masses would be spoiled if transparency is not ensured during the elections.
