JI protest in Karachi against Trump’s Jerusalem move

KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi held a protest demonstration against the United States’ move to recognize Jerusalem as Israeli capital and announcement to move its Embassy to the city, here on Thursday.

A large number of people from all walks of life participated in the demonstration held in Gulshan e Iqbal area. Protesters carrying placards and banners chanted slogans against the US and Israel.

Addressing the demonstration, JI Karachi chief Engr Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman rejected the decision and strictly criticized the US president Donald Trump for the highly controversial move.

He said that with the latest development, the US has attempted to push the entire global community to a never ending war.

The JI leader stressed the need of unity among the Muslim world and appealed the Umma to come forward against the move with unity among their ranks.

He also demanded of the Muslim coalition forces to play their due role in this regard. The liberation of the Qibla e Awal is an obligation to the coalition forces, he added.

Engr Naeem also asked the global community as well as the people of the United States to play their due role and get the decision withdrawn.

He announced to observe Friday as the protest day against the decision.
